Frequently asked questions

What is a recovery residence?

A recovery residence is a safe, structured, and substance‑free home for individuals who are rebuilding their lives in recovery. It provides a supportive environment where residents can focus on sobriety, stability, and personal growth while developing healthy routines and accountability.

Recovery residences are not treatment centers. Instead, they offer community, structure, peer support, and guidance to help individuals maintain long‑term recovery.

What do you offer for addiction recovery supports?

You can access addiction recovery support in several ways. At Life After, residents are encouraged to build a strong network of resources that promote long‑term sobriety. This includes:

  • Community support groups such as AA, NA, or other peer‑based meetings

  • In‑house educational groups that focus on recovery skills and healthy coping

  • Peer‑to‑peer support within the residence

  • Connections to community partners who offer additional recovery resources

  • Referrals to outpatient treatment providers for counseling, therapy, or clinical services when needed

Our role is to help residents stay connected, supported, and informed so they can access the level of care that best fits their recovery journey.

Do you offer mental health services?

We do not provide clinical mental health treatment or therapy. However, we strongly believe that connection and community play an essential role in emotional well‑being and long‑term recovery.

At Life After, residents have access to peer support, in‑house support groups, and skill‑building sessions that promote stability, healthy coping, and personal growth. These groups are designed to help residents strengthen their recovery, build resilience, and support their overall well‑being.

Our focus is on creating a safe, structured environment where individuals can maintain sobriety, develop healthy routines, and receive encouragement from peers who understand the recovery journey.

How do I pay rent?

Residents can pay rent in one of two ways:

  • Housing Support Program Eligible residents may have their room and board covered through the Housing Support program. This program assists adults with disabilities—including mental health conditions and substance use disorders—who have low incomes. If approved, Housing Support pays directly for your stay.

  • Private Pay We also accept private pay for residents who are not enrolled in Housing Support or prefer to pay independently.

If you’re unsure which option you qualify for, we can help guide you through the process and connect you with the appropriate county resources.
